White Rock Apartments Up In Smoke

APARTMENTS that until recently were lovely homes suddenly went up in flames and became burnt rubbish in White Rock. The City placed blue fencing around the disaster area for safety.

Unfortunately, no fence could have stopped the initial fire, that started at an adjacent construction site, from spreading to the complex. What caused the first spark is still a mystery but is thought to have been set deliberately at this writing. Dry weather mixed with light breezes no doubt fueled the flames. Read more about what happened HERE.

Battling the blaze depleted the small city’s reservoirs and caused a temporary boil advisory for drinking water. Neighboring Surrey supplied additional water and multiple firefighters to help extinguish a disaster that became a wake up call about local preparedness during catastrophes.

Dreams Of Relaxation Cast Away By The Fence

PRETTY CHAIRS on porches and front lawns are typical in my world but rarely is anyone sitting in them. Most aspire to relax in one when not quite so busy. Oddly enough, you don't have to actually sit in such chairs to feel their intent. Having one nearby is enough to evoke feelings of leisure, gentler times, cottages and cozy verandahs. A single glance produces a moment of meditation. And if you have no porch, a wall is the next best place to hang onto your picture-perfect dreams.

This discarded picture with a fence in the scenery is linked to GOOD FENCES.

When The Sun Came Out

WHEN THE SUN came out one recent morning the world's woes seemed a little lighter. Petals planted along a fence stretched to greet the rays.

Freshly washed dresses clinging to a clothesline soaked in the warmth.

Windows of a small abandoned building captured a bit of the glow.

Horse and rider came out to test the Crescent Beach waters.

I like the cloudy, rainy days but was nonetheless dazzled by the sun as it penciled tree shadows onto the pathways where I walked.

Beneath the pier, sun reflections in the water twinkled at me like stars.
