Front Row Seat At Plant Sale

LOVE DIGGING in the dirt? I think this passion is shared by most members of The White Rock & District Garden Club where people meet to exchange gardening ideas.

The club takes fieldtrips, arranges judged showings and invites speakers to educate and demonstrate throughout the year.

The group also teaches floral art to beginners as well as donates to charitable organizations.

I swung into their plant and bake sale fundraiser at the Ocean Park Hall in South Surrey this weekend. The two lovely old chairs reconstructed as planters were prettily eye-catching.

Flower lovers who see art in nature tend to be creative themselves. I cannot think of a better way to make use of old unwanted furniture than to cut a circular hole in the middle of a chair and let a plant have a seat.

  8. The flower arrangement looks like a part of the tole painting of the white chair and the violets go well with the antique chair. What a nice idea!
