WE ARE never too young or old for a stuffed toy to cuddle but some (no matter how cute) overstay their welcome. This bear, with the year 2000 sewn into the bottom of its foot, and two bunnies that might have been Easter gifts looked forlorn in the shade of a big fence at a home where they once were cherished. Will a new family scoop them up or will they end up in the trash I wondered?
Almost everyone has found comfort in plush animals. They peak our imaginations and sit politely in tiny chairs at children's tea parties. They are as consoling as security blankets and as forgiving as pet puppies. I don't remember my childhood favourite but my daughter's favourites have a place in my home. Most are stored in plastic bags waiting for a new generation of hugs.

Love teddy bears, have a collection of them.
ReplyDeleteawww! hope they find someone new to love them! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the stuffed animals too, I have to admit I have a collection of teddies. Great fence finds. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteA lovely 'stuffed' family against the fence
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope those cuties by the fence find new homes. We love stuffed animals here - Coleen has a ton of them and even my mom who is 86 enjoys a cute stuffed animal.
ReplyDeleteThat is sort of sad... They should be given to someone else. I know of a couple organizations that mend and refurbish them and give to Charities for children. These ones don't even look like they would need much.
ReplyDeleteWe gave a lot of stuffed toys to Goodwill when we recently moved to a smaller house - hopefully they'll find a new home and make some children happy. These ones do look forlorn, waiting for the garbage man. Sometimes it makes me sad how much stuff we just discard.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved stuffed animals. I hope someone scoops them up, cleans them up and gives them to someone to cherish.
ReplyDeletethey are cute sitting by the fence :)
ReplyDeleteDelightful photos and always love your presentation of them!
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you,

Again I missed the post on this another blog of yours, but happy to find. I wonder what happened to these lovely ones after all. In my country, dolls are believed to protect people from sickness and misfortune. So, customarily we don’t trash dolls but bring in to the temple which holds a memorial service to them. Women of my generation or more have had the same thought with the stuffed toys. Some of my daughter’s are played by her child or nieces and some are waiting for their turn to be hugged in the cardboard box.

If those toys are not given new life and love, at least you have immortalized them in that wonderful photograph. Al's comment resonated with me and Stardust's was very interesting. I hadn't heard of a memorial service for dolls. I wonder what happens to them after the service.
