Halloween: The Great Escape

SETTING OFF to sea in a rowboat is one way to experience “the great escape” from ordinary stresses. Many of us also delve into the fantasy realms Halloween brings each year. This is when contemplating death is the great escape and we are glad the scary images are illusions rather than something to fear.

But I have to say when a fence frames a boat parked in the front yard or a ghoul is at the gate, there is no better place to flee than the link to GOOD FENCES.

  3. I like this simple dark brown wooden gate and fence, which goes well with the refined simpliricy of the house, and the Halloween decoration on it, too. I read your comment about Halloween on my latest post with interests. The Halloween tradition seems to be changing little by little and I understand “a little of magic faded.” When I read the Celtic story, I felt magical power of the dark night. BTW, if I join cosplay party, I’d like to wear the costume of Kiki (Kiki’s Delivery Service).

  4. Stardust, thank you for introducing me to Kiki. What a fantastical adorable little character. In my part of the world a few decades ago there was a friendly witch called Wendy that was in a comic book series about a ghost names Casper. Wendy had a broom but she didn’t have Kiki’s great big red bow!

  5. Thank you, Maria, for checking up Kiki. I’m not sure whether sixty four year-old Kiki would be respectful, skillful witch or might be unable to control her broomstick due to deteriorating mental and physical strength. I remember Casper well but not about Wendy. She is lovely wearing hooded red cloth.
