THERE WERE many signs during World Oceans Day at Blackie Spit Park in Crescent Beach but the "I brake for turtles" car sticker was my favorite. I was also introduced to a live Western Painted Turtle (endangered in BC), blind falcon and broken-winged owl that you, too, can meet in my post HERE.
The event was hosted by people with a conscience who are interested in what is happening to the environment and all living things in it.

I rarely see them!
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few signs for "turtles crossing" but, like Tom, have never seen one.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I would brake for turtles any day!
ReplyDeleteI have not seen this sign before :)
ReplyDeleteFrankly My Dear
Cute but important
ReplyDeleteThese made for fun reading!
ReplyDeleteA great sign. I came across a run over turtle while out cycling with my kids once & it's shell had been severely crushed so I had to put the poor little thing out of it's misery with a blow to the head with a rock. I knew it was the right thing to do to end it's suffering but I felt terrible for days afterward. I sent the kids off ahead but it still really upset me having to do that.
ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet sign.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I break for turtles too. In fact, if I see one in the middle of the road, I'll get out and gently put it on the other side, in the direction it was heading of course :) I have even read up on the safest way to pick up turtles, even snappers, though I have never come across one of those yet.
