Flower Hearts & Dangling Diamonds

IN MY WORLD of Ocean Park in BC there are many pretty sights along the pathways in spring. This one pictured above captured my imagination recently because it reminded me of a string of jewelry on a necklace.

The tiny bleeding hearts brushed by fingers of leaves gleamed in the sunlight. An extended bead dangled from each flower like a raindrop shaped diamond.

Some plants have yet to reach their full potential. Right now this cone shaped bloom has the look of a bristle brush. But its destiny is to transform.

The rhododendron was aglow with buds.

Those that blossom first will fade sooner than the late bloomers.

  1. Great pictures, especially the bleeding hearts, they are a favorite of mine too. Hope this gets through OK as I have been having some connection problems while travelling.

  2. Your photographs already have a wonderful life of their own, but the imagery emerging from your uniquely expressive viewpoint gives them a kind of double-glow! Your first photograph had such beauty, it made me gasp, and the bristle brush image elicited a smile and a "just perfect" response as I read it.

  3. Surely, this is the necklace for Spring Goddess! The design of the combination of hearts and raindrops is so graceful and beautiful. Really Nature is the genius in art.
Thanks a lot for showing such wonderful plants!! Have a nice day.

  4. Many gentle and kind hands look cherishing the breeding hearts in the photos. Yes, the glinting breeding hearts look as beautiful as jewels, or more. Thanks for sharing some of lovely sights special to May with us, Penelope.

  8. Love the bleeding hearts. Haven't seen one for years (a different kind grows here in Florida, but it's not so pretty)...we used to have the "real ones" like yours in our Oregon yard.

  11. Beautiful! The bleeding hearts I can grow but not the rhodos - our soil is far too alkaline.
