Waiting For Santa In Our World

'TWAS THE MONTH before Christmas when all through the mall little children were gathering to see Santa Claus at a brightly decorated stall. The jolly old man who grants wishes kindly posed for a picture before returning to his big chair near where a lineup was building.

Although the Santa at my local shopping center had a delightful authentic flair, I wondered if the wavy locks under his cap were real and if curious children would tug at his hair.

A break in the weather was granted later when I went to Crescent Beach for a walk. The steady rain had washed the sky a clear blue.

Clouds of white flowed like the curls on Santa's head ...

and made watery reflections that tugged at a forgotten time in my childhood when I knew that wishes came true.

  1. The Santa t your mall looks suitably jolly. How kind of him to pose for you.

The blue sky looks wonderful. Do you think if I ask Santa politely that he'll send some blue skies to central Ontario? :))

  4. I loved the connection between Santa's curly white locks and those fluffy clouds, Penelope. My sister was the one who always wanted to pull the beard and check the hair under the cap. I was a bit too shy. Wasn't it wonderful to finally have some blue skies lately? I guess that's one wish that came true :)

  14. I enjoyed your way of developing the content by association with Santa’s beard and the clouds. Being a Santa looks perfectly fit to this man with charming smiles, kind heart, and the white beard. Thanks for making us feel merry prior to the season.
