Soft Light & Sparkles On Valentine's Day

A MOVIE, DINNER FOR TWO and walk on the beach in fine weather ... the world felt extraordinary with additional sparkles permeating Valentine's Day.

In The Theory of Everything, physicist Stephen Hawking is in the middle of giving a speech when he spots a pen on the floor dropped by someone in the audience. He suddenly imagines himself standing up from his wheelchair and walking down the stage stairs to nimbly pick up the pen. Such a simple yet complex task magically portrayed in the movie is something Hawking can only dream of doing. Luckily, despite having a severe motor-neuron disorder, Hawking has an brilliant mind and the entire universe to ponder.

Functions of the human anatomy are under-appreciated until the body turns on itself. I am reminded that simple pleasures are at the heart of enjoying life and nothing about existence should be taken for granted, from a good laugh and shared meal to a brilliant idea and golden sunset at the end of the day.

  1. We take things and moments for granted. I tell people to not wait till a better time to do something later when you can do it today. You never know what waits for you around the corner. A thought provoking post and beautiful images.

  10. I loved every one of your Valentines (I am behind on my visits, but it is never too late for love, after all!). Your words are a wonderful reminder to be grateful for all we have and not worry about little things.

  11. Profound words.. a post full of beauty, Maria. As I scrolled through, the images of gentle light, and the love behind them, moved from one to the next in a dream sequence as poignantly wondrous as the one you described (and that I remember vividly) in the movie.
